Refused asylum seeker Yosief Michael Kidane faces forced removal from the United Kingdom (UK) to Eritrea, where he would be at risk of arrest, incommunicado detention and torture or other ill-treatment, for his political activity and for seeking asylum in the UK.

An audience of about 300 were uplifted and empowered at the Asylum Forum in Malvern on 26 October. Clear presentations were packed with information as different aspects of the UK asylum process were expertly and critically assessed by AIUK Director Kate Allen, Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association Legal Officer Steve Symonds, head of Medical Services at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture Dr Juliet Cohen, and co-founder of Medical Justice Harris Nyatsanza. Asylum in the UK

On Monday 26th October the Malvern Amnesty International group will be holding a forum titled ‘Asylum in the UK’. This will see a panel of four experts discussing issues such as detention, destitution and deportation. The panellists will be Kate Allen (Director at Amnesty International UK), Juliet Cohen (Medical Foundation), Emma Ginn (Medical Justice) and Steve Symonds (Immigration Law Practitioners Association), chaired by Mike Kaye from Still Human Still Here. It will take place at Malvern Theatres starting at 7.30pm with tickets costing £9.50 (£8.50 concessions).
